When you are moving, the thought of packing and unpacking can be overwhelming enough, let alone the thought of changing your address to every company or agency who sends you mail!
The below list should hopefully help to short-cut the process by having phone numbers and online forms for many of the relevant organisations Canberrans will need to get in touch with when they move homes. Here’s a list of organisations to contact when you need to change address:
Australia Post
You can either get a paper mail redirection form at Australia Post outlets or fill out Australia Post’s online mail redirection form.
Access Canberra
To change your address for vehicle registration, drivers licences, land tax, ACT rates, library cards, pet registration etc call 13 22 81 or use Access Canberra‘s online forms.
Australian Electoral Commission
To update your voter registration, call 13 23 26 or go through the AEC website
Centrelink and Medicare
You have the option of using MyGov to change your address online with these agencies or you can call 13 24 68.
Australian Tax Office
If you prefer not to go through the MyGov portal to change your address with the ATO, call 13 28 61 or use this form (which can also be used for nominating a representative to deal with the ATO on your behalf).
Utilities
Contact your electricity and gas providers, as well as phone, internet and Pay TV providers. ACTEW/AGL can be contacted on 13 14 93. Icon Water’s phone number is (02) 6248 3111.
Medical
You may wish to update your GP, Dentist and other ongoing medical providers.
